When we first looked into buying the house the first thing my mom noticed were the two trees that were leaning toward the house. The tree's were both dead and were very risky. The tree company called them widow-makers. The reason they called them this was because they were very dangerous to get down. One of the trees was broken about 25 feet up and was leaning into the other tree. The trees were both about 100 feet tall and since they were leaning toward the house no one wanted to touch it. We ended up using Canopy Tree Company to get it down, their price was the most reasonable and they had the correct equipment. They got the tree's down effectively and not it the house, and now we can move on to get the new roof put on. We're are quickly on our way to being able to move in.

We're buying the house on the twenty-fifth. We finally dodged all of the issues that were holding us back. Last weekend, we got the mold out of the laundry room and the living room. We also went on the roof to temporarily fix the leak near the chimney. The roofer is coming sometime next week to go ahead and put the roof on so that we can start painting and putting in the new flooring. Saturday we're going to tear out all the carpet and let the house dry out. After this weekend we should be set to start the renovations so that we can move in soon.
We were supposed to buy the house 14 days ago. We're now two weeks off schedule and probably even longer than that if we keep going at this pace. Every time we're about buy it and everything is ready we run into another problem or there is something else we have to do. The most recent hold up was the appraiser. My mom is taking out a loan to buy the house and we had to get an appraisal from the bank so that they knew that what we're asking to borrow was really what the house was worth. The appraisal was good and we are now on track to buy the house and hopefully it will stay that way.As of last weekend, my mom and I have been living with my grandma. It's been somewhat hectic since my mom and my grandma haven't lived together in over 20 years. Other than the craziness of trying to find our clothes that are still packed up, it has been pretty calm. Living with my grandma has helped with the fact that it feels like there is no where to call home because my grandma's house is home for my mom and it's like my second home because I spent most of my time there when I was little while my parents were at work. We still haven't bought the house because my mom's lawyer found a lean against the house from the eighties, but we got that cleared up on Friday. Now, we are waiting on the appraiser to see how much the house is really worth and then we can buy it! I'm super excited to get it in there and start getting the carpet out to start the process of fixing it up.
Our first step is going to be to remove the tree that is dead and leaning toward our house. We're really worried about the tree because there is no insurance on the house and if we tried to get insurance on it now it wouldn't cover the tree. So, we're in a bit of a bind. We've had four people come out to look at the tree, but no one will do it for a reasonable price because of the danger. The dead tree is broken about 15 feet up and is leaning on another dead tree that is leaning toward our house. The tree cutters are worried that if they try to push the tree over, it will fall either on them or the house. After we remove the tree we are going to put a new roof on the house. There is a dip behind the chimney where there is a beam missing which is allowing water to leak in and run down the wall in the living room when it rains.
